Who does what

  1. QB

    Hike it to yourself, take three steps back. Look at Purple first. Covered? Throw deep to Orange.

  2. Y
    Yellow

    Run straight, fast as you can. Look back for the ball.

  3. B
    Blue

    Run straight, fast as you can. Look back for the ball.

  4. O
    Orange

    Run straight up the middle.

  5. P
    Purple

    Take 6 big steps, turn around, hands up.

What to say

  • Run fast. After 5 steps, eyes back to the QB.
  • Purple: turn around and show two hands.
  • QB: look short first, then deep.

Watch for

Receivers run with their backs to the QB and never look for the ball.

If it breaks down, say

Five steps, then eyes!

Drill · 4 minutes · Look-back races

Pairs line up. On go, run straight. At the cone (5 steps) turn your head to the coach, catch a soft toss, keep running. Switch.
